About

Achanté’s music either moves you, or makes you move.

Chantelle Menezes (stage name "Achanté") is a Mumbai-bred, Toronto-based Indo-Jazz musician, and content creator with two decades of  recording & performing experience in India, Canada, and internationally. Achanté is known for her "genrefluid" music, and uses her voice as her lead instrument in a decolonizing effort to connect people to each other, and themselves.

Blending neo-soul, alt-pop, jazz, folk, electronica and Carnatic influences, she immerses her audience in a sound that’s  both nostalgic, and new.  Known for her intentional artistry, she’s played 150+ shows in the last three years.

Until 2018 when she immigrated to Canda, she was a regular in the Indian indie as well as Bollywood music circuit, sharing the stage  with big names like A.R. Rahman, Agnee, Coke Studio, MTV Unplugged, and since then, in Canada, has made a name for herself as a versatile performer, doing intimate gigs like  Sofar Sounds to major festivals like Desifest at Sankofa Square and Rhymths of Canada at Aga Khan Museum.

Her debut EP, Journey to the Centre of the Hearth, crossed 150,000+ streams and earned recognition from Rolling Stone India, NOW Toronto, iHeartRadio, Spotify Editorial, and more.

Parallel to music, Chantelle works as technology sales account executive and content creator with an engaged following of 31,000+ across socials. She enjoys sharing her travel adventures, recommendations for local restaurants and businesses in Toronto, lifestyle content, and her newest series, "Art is Human", where she shines a light on the history, science, culture and stories behind art and music.

As she prepares to be featured on City TV and CMCTV this Fall 2026, and release “Moss Girl” - the first chapter of a multidisciplinary project blending live music, electronic production, organic plant sounds, and immersive visuals - Achanté is redefining what a live performance can be and is challenging audiences to decolonize their minds and experiences.

Shows

Listening through headphones is great, but Achanté LIVE is a whole different experience! The artist has a versatile sound that she customizes to fit the space and energy of the event that she's a part of - whether it's an intimate solo showcase, acoustic duo set on the Toronto waterfront, fully-amped 5 piece band at a concert or track-assisted live performance at a dance party.

Her memorable sound (kind of like Erykah Badu meets Alicia Keys meets Shae Gill) comes from a diverse upbringing. Achanté has Indian roots and has lent her vocal chops to the indie as well as Bollywood scene in Mumbai, collaborating and sharing the stage with Oscar Winner, A.R. Rahman, Shalmali Kholgade, Sickflip and MTV Coke Studio, to name a few. Since relocating to Toronto in 2019, she has already amassed a growing local fan base headlining legendary venues and shows  like Lee’s Palace, Sofar Sessions, Breaking Sound Canada, Taste of India, OBJX, Clinton’s, Harbourfront and Aga Khan Museum and played 59 live shows (and counting!) in 2022-23 alone.
